The delightful storekeeper, reportedly 93 or 94 yrs old and still loves her work, gave up her Post Office position to her son. Her eyes sparkled as I signed her guest book. She said one year people from 25 different countries came through. The gas pump outside is old enough that it can't be set for today's gas prices. So she has it set for half, then doubles the amount on the pump at the register. That's one big benefit of cycling! Gas prices don't matter so much. Gotta fill my tank up anyway! I had a cold drink and ate a can of unsweetened pears before heading up the gravel road.
Lewis & Clark's Corp of Discovery mapped the way west from St. Louis Missouri to the Pacific Ocean in 1805-06. We are retracing their route backwards by bicycle some two hundred years later to discover people's views toward stewardship of this vast and beautiful land. Along the way we will pray for hearts to be restored with awe and wonder for the Creator who made it all, and for restoration of the land. Come discover with us!

Tendoy
Chief Tendoy, the namesake of this town, was a descendant of Sacajawea and an amazing leader for his people during very difficult times. See Homeland of Sacajawea post last week for more about his life. Tendoy was my turn off the pavement to head up over the Lemhi Pass. I really do love traveling through the back roads where people take the time and interest to find out about the visitors coming through their neck of the woods.
